Skype for Business live streamed some updates. This was formerly known as SfB Broadcast and will now be known as Now Teams on Air! The full video is below or you can read on for my notes.
Unveiled vision for Intelligent Communications!
Teams is a celebration of all the great things in O365: SharePoint, OneNote, Groups, etc.
Service name updates:
Cloud PBX is now called Phone System.
PSTN Calling is now called Calling Plans.
PSTN Conferencing is now called Audio Conferencing.
PSTN Consumption Billing is now called Communications Credit.
Interoperability signaling and media stack are different in a lot of ways. Teams has different look than Skype for Business.
This is based on Next generation Core (NGC). This is the same core that operates Skype Consumer platform.
When visioning, the decision was to bring all capability to Teams client instead of Skype for Business Online.
Audio conferencing now in Preview with Teams.
All Phone System and Calling Plan features will be brought into Teams. Just a matter of back end cloud layer plug in (Auto Attendant, Call Queues).. This will happen faster than it did with bringing these features to Skype for Business Online.
One administrative portal. Bring in Teams. Bring in Call Analytics. UI for dial plans.
The next stream is tomorrow at 11am at www.Aka.ms/TeamsOnAir
